PSN Anti-Gang Training and Technical Assistance Program

The Michigan State University (MSU) will continue its training and technical assistance activities (TTA) in support of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) violence and gang reduction efforts. MSU will deliver TTA to individual state and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, and local communities - coordinated with the local U.S. Attorney's Office. TTA will support the implementation, operation, and assessment of violent crime reduction activities and anti-gang and PSN initiatives with a specific focus on strategic problem solving and evidence-based practices.

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is designed to create safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in crime associated with gang and gun violence. The program's effectiveness is based on the cooperation of local, state, and federal agencies engaged in a unified approach led by the U.S. Attorney (USA) in each district. The USA is responsible for establishing a collaborative PSN task force of federal, state, and local law enforcement and other community members to implement gang and gun crime enforcement, intervention and prevention initiatives within the district.
The Michigan State University will to provide continue training and technical assistance in support of Project PSN violence and gang reduction efforts. The training and technical assistance will be provided to PSN task forces, including state and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies that work in coordination with the local U.S. Attorney's Office. The goals of the training are the implementation, operation, and assessment of PSN violent crime reduction activities with a specific focus on strategic problem solving, research integration, and evidence based practices.
