The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will increase the effectiveness of criminal justice and community organizations in addressing street gang issues by continuing the operation of the National Gang Center (NGC). IIR will also deliver a variety of anti-gang training classes to local and state law enforcement officers; and at BJA's direction, will respond to ad hoc requests for specialized training and technical assistance, giving priority to those that supplement regional Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) trainings. Additionally, IIR will plan and conduct a National Gang Symposium providing specialized training on gang culture and promising strategies to reduce gang violence.
