Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $796,405)
The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Training and Technical Assistance Program (JMHCP) is funded through the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-414). The primary purpose of JMHCP is to increase public safety by facilitating collaboration among the criminal justice, juvenile justice, and mental health and substance abuse treatment systems to increase access to mental health and other treatment services for those individuals with mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
The Council of State Governments Justice Center (Justice Center) will provide training and technical assistance to FY 2011 JMHCP grantees. The Justice Center will support these grantees in achieving their funded goals, provide expertise in the relevant content areas, and provide an understanding of how national policy goals and emerging research can be practically applied in the state or local context. NCA/NCF
