Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $1,177,836)

Under this project, the Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) will continue to implement activities to improve the delivery of evidence-based training and technical assistance (TTA) services, reach more corners of the criminal justice field, provide greater and more targeted assistance to the field, and insure that the most effective methods of TTA are used. The supplemental funds will be used to continue these tasks through the mechanism of the Diagnostic Center. FVTC will collaborate with other Diagnostic Center team members (federal and non-federal) to support the work of the Diagnostic Center and researchers who are knowledgeable of evidence-based programs and practices in criminal justice by identifying and procuring the services of subject matter experts (SMEs) in a variety of criminal justice, public safety, juvenile justice, and victim services topics. The goal for this project is to build and manage a pool of SME consultants for onsite and offsite work to support the diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation phases of Diagnostic Center engagements. There is a particular emphasis in supporting Diagnostic Center in identifying SMEs and consultants with expertise in working with (1) tribal communities and delivering technical assistance and training in tribal communities; and (2) policymakers and legislators at the state, county, and city levels. Because of the collaborative nature of the Diagnostic Center enterprise, there will be a strong emphasis on coordination with OJP, with other Diagnostic Center partners, and with other technical assistance efforts sponsored by OJP and its bureaus and offices. Tools and technology developed under this project will be designed to be integrated with other Diagnostic Center tools and systems.
