Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement (CAPE) Project

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) will continue supporting the LASD's Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement (CAPE) Project. They will fund the CAPE Team's suppression efforts by LASD's COPS Bureau. A collaborative effort between resources to augment one another will establish a direct line of communication and will enhance LASD's ability to track, identify, monitor, investigate, and share intelligence regarding suspects in the areas of, or related to, theft of trade secrets, health and safety, and commercial on-line piracy and counterfeiting. LASD will work with the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition to raise citizen awareness on intellectual property crimes; reduce counterfeiting and piracy; forging law enforcement/community partnerships; and increase public awareness about the health and/or safety risk posed by counterfeit and pirated products.
