The National JIS Initiative works collaboratively with key stakeholders and national partner organizations to identify critical issues and problems, and provide resources in response to emerging challenges in law enforcement, courts, corrections, reentry, human/social services, and tribal justice.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office will use the grant funds, awarded under Category 5: Statewide Fusion Center Pilot Projects, to support a fusion center pilot project that focuses on enhancing analytic capabilities; improving electronic communication with local law enforcement agencies; and implementing more effective and efficient reporting, evaluation, and sharing of Suspicious Activity Reporting information.
