Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $245,993)

Through the National Justice Information Sharing (JIS) Initiative solicitation, BJA seeks to enable the nation's criminal justice community to improve information sharing through advanced technology and tools that increase efficiency, enhance operations, and promote cost savings and reuse. The National JIS Initiative works collaboratively with key stakeholders and national partner organizations to identify critical issues and problems, and provide resources in response to emerging challenges in law enforcement, courts, corrections, reentry, human/social services, and tribal justice.

The SEARCH Group, Inc. will use the grant funds to manage the efforts of BJA's Services Task Team (STT), which will be guided by DOJ's Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative. The SEARCH Group will design and implement a federated search across three high-priority data sources for analysts in the fusion centers so investigators and analysts will have a single, secure, browser-based interface that allows them to submit one set of query parameters and have results from all three of these data sources presented as an integrated response.
