Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $60,000)
The International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) will create a working group of academy directors and Peace Officer Standards and Training directors to determine the merit of Blue Courage, explore whether this education process focused on mindsets and behaviors can and should be included in existing law enforcement training curriculum, and if so, how to best provide this training to new police recruits and in-service training. Information gathered will also involve polling the members of NLEARN, which include academy directors staff and law enforcement trainers. The working group will consist of eight IADLEST members familiar with the process of evaluating and implementing the new curriculum. The working group will meet three times over a 12-month period. A project director assigned by IADLEST will serve as manager and will coordinate and oversee projects of the working group.
