Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $549,901)
This program is funded under the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program (Byrne Competitive Program) and the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Authorized by Pub. L. No.112-55, div. B, title II, 125 Stat. 552, 615, the Byrne Competitive Program helps communities improve the functioning and capacity of their state and local criminal justice systems and provides for national support efforts including training and technical assistance programs strategically targeted to address local, state and tribal needs. The JAG Program (42 U.S.C. 3751(a) et seq.) is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state, local, and tribal jurisdictions, and JAG funds support all components of the criminal justice system.
The SEARCH Group, Incorporated will support and maintain the current National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) training program and the creation of new training modules to provide training on the Global Reference Architecture (GRA) and Global Federated Identity and Privilege Management (GFIPM). They will develop the new GRA and GFIPM curricula following an online training format where the primary means of delivery will be using a distance learning approach. SEARCH Group, Incorporated will continue to provide the same or improved levels of technical support to NIEM users through the provisioning of the National Information Sharing Standards (NISS) helpdesk. All courses will be made available to students in either the online or in-person format, and at least 12 training opportunities will be provided during the award period.
