The New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety will enhance programs designed to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) portion of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. § 16901, et seq.). SORNA was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration and notification of those offenders. This project will include enhancements to the palm print system and live scan upgrades. The State's goal is to ensure current biometric information is forwarded in real-time for inclusion in the State Sex Offender Central Registry.
