The Adam Walsh Act is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety, and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) portion of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. § 16901, et seq.) was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration and notification of those offenders. This project will include a live scan machine and website enhancements. The state goals are to obtain funding to provide six departments, at a minimum, with Live Scan systems capable of capturing and transmitting palm prints and photographs to the CBI for inclusion into the state's ABIS database and interface with the Sex Offender Registry.
