Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $296,665)
The CNA Corporation will use this award to support local law enforcement planning for security operations for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions. The goal of the proposed project to provide both onsite analytic support, and to document lessons learned and best practices to share throughout the law enforcement community in future special security events. In effort to accomplish this goal, CNA proposes a two-pronged approach designed to cover both the planning and operations phases of the Conventions. This two-pronged approach involves: 1) the development of a comprehensive law enforcement-centric After-Action Report documenting lessons learned and best practices and; 2) the provision of onsite technical assistance (prior to and during the event). This approach will result in the development of the following: technical assistance memoranda providing details of the type and nature of TA needs for the host law enforcement agencies; a "Quick-Look" Report developed within 48-hours after the event to identify preliminary lessons learned and best practices for each Convention venue; one comprehensive After-Action Report (AAR) documenting law enforcement best practices and areas for improvement across Convention venues; and an Executive Briefing for wide-scale dissemination to law enforcement leadership documenting best practices for large-scale special security events.
