Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $417,554)
Efficient and effective sharing of information between and among justice agencies and their partner organizations is at the heart of today's efforts across the nation to protect public safety and reduce offender recidivism. The project represents a unique proposal to combat gun violence in the city of Milwaukee. A partnership among the Police Department; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and regional law enforcement agencies in southeast Wisconsin, the project will create a dashboard methodology that will inform law enforcement on several key indicators, including gun tracing, geographic information system mapping, shot spotter, license plate readers, and identity matching using advanced DNA technology. Collectively, this information will likely improve the timely identification, apprehension, and prosecution of targeted gun offenders. CA/NCF
