The Adam Walsh Act is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety, and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), part of the Adam Walsh Act, was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration and notification of those offenders. The state of California will implement technical enhancements to the CSAR database to correct and prevent duplicate records and provide training to local registering aagencies. The goal is to ensure data integrity to protect the public from convicted sex offenders, and to establish a comprehensive system for the registration and monitoring of the registrants.
