The Regional Information Sharing System (RISS) Program offers a variety of services and support to law enforcement agencies to include federated searches of law enforcement databases through nationwide connectivity using internet technologies, intelligence analysis, bulletins and publications, surveillance equipment loans, confidential funds, investigative and prosecution support, and law enforcement and officer safety training.

The recipient will utilize FY 2013 RISS funds to continue to operate the Western States Information Network (WSIN). WSIN is comprised of more than 1,400 law enforcement agencies in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. The goal of WSIN is to enhance the ability of state and local criminal justice agencies to identify, target, and remove criminal conspiracies and activities which cross jurisdictional boundaries. WSIN's objective is to encourage and facilitate the rapid exchange and sharing of information among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies concerning known or suspected criminals, criminal activity, and emerging trends.
