Development and Implementation of a National PREA Data Standard

Efficient and effective sharing of information between and among justice agencies and their partner organizations is at the heart of today's efforts across the nation to protect public safety and reduce offender recidivism. The project will leverage experts in the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and correctional organizations charged with its implementation to establish a standardized approach to collecting and sharing information relating to PREA requirements. The information shared will encompass victim, perpetrator, and incident data, taking into account all necessary policies and agreements to ensure PREA compliance. Implementation will be carried out across four pilot sites (state Departments of Correction), and will feature the development of tools and guidelines to promote replication elsewhere. CA/NCF
