Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $99,134)
The FY 2016 Phase Three of the Smart Pretrial Demonstration Initiative will allow Denver to evaluate the success of implementation in each of the goal areas through performance measure and system data analysis. For those goals that prove successful, Phase Three provides the opportunity to sustain the improvement and ensure system fidelity and commitment to pretrial reform goals. This analysis and commitment is essential to ensure lasting system change. Additionally, Phase Three provides the opportunity to share Denvers Smart Pretrial experience with other jurisdictions working toward pretrial reform and improvement. Phase Three work will expand the use of this reporting to include a wider system audience through Denvers Justice Coordinating Committee, a subcommittee of the Crime Prevention and Control Commission. This analysis has benefits to pretrial system stakeholders and also provides additional information for the analysis of the overall efficiency of the management of incarcerated populations.
Goal #1- Embed key pretrial system measures across the criminal justice system. Goal #2- Reduce racial and ethnic disparities in pretrial decision making. Goal #3- Utilize a cost benefit analysis to demonstrate change from the initial baseline assessment. CA/NCF
