This competitive grant announcement will support four categories focusing on providing specialized information, training and technical assistance to: State Administering Agencies (SAAs); state and local government policymakers (such as governors, state legislators, county officials, and mayors); parole authorities; and, state and local departments of corrections.
The recipient will use grant fudns ton launch a National Segregation Reduction and Alternatives Campaign that will: 1) Conduct a comprehensive, data-driven technical assistance effort to safely reduce the use of segregation in state and local corrections systems by at least 30% in three U.S. sites, while enhancing alternatives; 2) Convene an annual Campaign Advisory Committee of leading national experts, peer mentors, and administrators to facilitate reforms in the project sites and foster a professional learning community; and 3) Expand and enhance the information and resources available to BJA, policymakers, and practitioners through an online stand-alone National Segregation Reduction Resource Center ("NSRRC"), accessible project publications, and direct media outreach.
