Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $600,000)

This program is funded under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The JAG Program (42 U.S.C. § 3751(a)) is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions, and JAG funds support all components of the criminal justice system. The FY 2014 LE National TTA provision focuses on provision of TTA to state and local law enforcement and crime prevention efforts targeting homicides.

The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) use existing knowledge, curriculum, and instructional expertise to manage the nationally recognized Bureau of Justice Assistance Center for Task Force Training (CenTF) Program. They will expand the delivery of training and technical assistance to address emerging issues and relevant concerns affecting task forces operating across the United States. In addition, the Center for Task Force Leadership and Integrity (CTFLI) online training and resource Web site, which serves to fill a special condition to those task forces receiving Byrne Justice Assistance Grant funding, will continue to be updated and will continue without interruption. The project goal is to increase the effectiveness and ensure the success, through nationwide training and technical assistance, of state and local multi-jurisdictional law enforcement task forces that have been assembled and designed to address local crime issues.
