The National Initiatives Reaching Criminal Justice Policymakers Program is designed to provide objective, fact-based information, resources, and training and technical assistance (TTA) on timely and pressing criminal justice issues of potential concern to the nation's criminal justice policymakers. The program's intent is to support pathways for evidence-based best practices to reach policymakers in various roles. This competitive grant announcement will support four categories focusing on providing specialized information, training and technical assistance to: State Administering Agencies (SAAs); state and local government policymakers (such as governors, state legislators, county officials, and mayors); parole authorities; and, state and local departments of corrections.
In collaboration with the National Association of Counties (NaCo) and the Pretrial Justice Institute, the Justice Management Institute will use funds to develop a Smart Justice Implementation Institute (Institute) that will engage county policymakers from across the country.
