Adam Walsh Act is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety, and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), part of the Adam Walsh Act, was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration and notification of those offenders. The state of Minnesota will utilize funds for the development and/or enhancement of programs designed to implement the SORNA portion of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. § 16901, et seq.). The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will develop and deploy an online registration form that will be available to criminal justice professionals through a secure law enforcement website. The registration form will be processed electronically and transmitted to the Predatory Offender Unit. The goal of the project is to continue the development of technology to support SORNA implementation.
