Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $3,726,276)
The Regional Information Sharing System (RISS) Program offers a variety of services and support to law enforcement agencies including secure information sharing and communications system for regional information sharing between Federal, State, tribal, and local law enforcement agencies; critical analytical and investigative support services; and event deconfliction to enhance officer safety. RISS supports efforts against organized and violent crime, gang activity, drug activity, terrorism, human trafficking, identity theft, and other regional priorities. As a RISS center, the New England State Police Information Network (NESPIN) provides intelligence information sharing and research, criminal intelligence analysis, equipment loans, and training services for a region which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Canadian provinces. NESPIN supports local, state, and federal law enforcement member agencies and acts as a focal point for the exchange of multi-jurisdictional information on major criminal activity in New England including: gang activity, terrorism activity, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, human trafficking and violent crime. RISS supports thousands of local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice agencies in their efforts to successfully resolve criminal investigations and ensure officer safety. NCA/CF
