Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $1,000,000)
The recipient will utilize Fiscal Year 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program carve-out funds to defray the law enforcement costs associated with the response, subsequent investigations and law enforcement activities required as a result of the mass shooting incident that occurred at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on June 12, 2016. This tragedy resulted in the death of 49 people and the injury of 53 others; requiring a coordinated response of over 1,500 local, state and federal law enforcement personnel from more than 25 agencies.
FDLE, as the State Administering Agency (SAA), will subaward funds for the purposes of reimbursing units of government and law enforcement agencies for personnel and overtime costs related to the criminal activity experienced by the city, county and state as a result of this incident.
