Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $499,825)
The Technology Innovation for Public Safety (TIPS) Program is funded under the statutory set aside for precipitous increase in crime (42 U.S.C. § 3756(b)(1)) to assist state, local, and tribal jurisdictions in enhancing their information-sharing capacity through the use of innovative technological solutions to effectively address disproportionate and precipitous increases in crime. Funding for this program is available under two categories. Category 2, TIPS Addressing Precipitous Increases in Crime Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Provider, will provide a comprehensive array of TTA to assist grantees and other key stakeholders in innovative technical implementations.
The Police Foundation will utilize TIPS 2016 funds to provide TIPS Category 1 grantees with a comprehensive array of training, technical assistance, and support services to assist them in achieving their respective project goals. The Police Foundation and its partners, complemented by a cadre of subject matter experts, will provide the required national capacity to support TIPS grantees with training and technical assistance (TTA) to successfully implement their projects, collect and evaluate outcome data, and share promising practices. This project will result in the production of the two required deliverables, in addition to required reporting: Provide assistance to the TIPS grantees to successfully implement their projects; and produce a BJA-branded report that documents the successful project outcomes, best and promising practices, and methods for transportability to other jurisdictions.
