The National Initiatives Reaching Criminal Justice Policymakers Program is designed to provide objective, fact-based information, resources, and training and technical assistance (TTA) on timely and pressing criminal justice issues of potential concern to the nation's criminal justice policymakers. The program's intent is to support pathways for evidence-based best practices to reach policymakers at the state and local level, and to build capacity to collaborate with practitioners and researchers in their jurisdictions to sustain effective practices using state and local resources.

The recipients will deliver trainings, provide technical assistance, and strategic planning services to policymakers at the state and local levels.

Under Category 1 The National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) through the National State Policymakers Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program will deliver tailored training and technical assistance (TTA) and strategic planning services to State Agency Administrators (SAAs) and Criminal Justice Policy Advisors (CJPAs)and, through them, governors and other state agencies and policy leaders. The overall goal of the program is to provide assistance to SAAs and CJPAs to strengthen collaboration and ensure that comprehensive, statewide community-based strategic planning efforts integrate data, research, and the latest promising and evidence-based practices so that financial investments are coordinated and more likely to be sustained long-term.
