Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $51,560)
The state of Montana will use grant funds to support programs and activities designed to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) portion of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. § 16901, et seq.). The Adam Walsh Act is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety, and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. SORNA was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration and notification of those offenders. The goal of the state is to purchase, install test and deploy the necessary hardware (laptop computers, office docking stations, portable printers, document scanners, fingerprint scanners, mobile signature pads) and required software, to create a mobile office space environment for Sexual and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR) field compliance agents, and to hire personnel to complete Montana's National Sex Offender Registry offenders record validations.
