Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $400,550)

The state will use this award to enhance programs designed to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) portion of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. § 16901, et seq.). The Adam Walsh Act is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety, and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. To substantially implement SORNA, this award will be used to develop and implement an electronic filing system that will save valuable resource time retrieving documents and responding to the registration and notification requests and required updates of out-of-state sex offenders. The system will also minimize data entry errors while eliminating duplication of staff efforts.
