Adult Drug Court Training and Technical Assistance Initiative

The purpose of the Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (42 U.S.C. 3797u et seq.) is to provide financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to develop and implement drug courts that effectively integrate evidence-based substance abuse treatment, mandatory drug testing, sanctions and incentives, and transitional services in a judicially supervised court setting with jurisdiction over substance-abusing drug court participants. The NADCP's National Drug Court Institute (NDCI) will provide state-of-the-art training and technical assistance to various types of operational Bureau of Justice Assistance funded adult drug treatment court programs (including all adult, DWI/DUI, veterans, and co-occurring drug courts) in developing, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based program practices for increased program effectiveness and long-term participant success. NDCI and partners will use award funds to protect the fidelity of the proven adult drug court model and provide the science, knowledge, and skills to successfully implement and/or improve drug court operations and address the opioid epidemic and other emerging trends in the drug court field.
