The Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory (MVRCL) is a full-service forensic laboratory serving the law enforcement agencies in southwestern Ohio. Approximately, seventy law enforcement agencies in eight counties regularly use the services of the MVRCL. Additionally, other law enforcement agencies use the services offered as needed.

The MVRCL will use grant funds to provide financial support for the following:

Personnel - Funds will be used to provide overtime for DNA staff to work on backlogged cases. We will not outsource any cases using the grant funds, nor will we contract with temporary employees to work DNA cases. All expenditures will be used to allow permanent, fulltime employees in the DNA section to work extra hours to manage and control the backlog.

Equipment - Funds will be used to purchase computers and related equipment that is used in the daily operations of the DNA section to document case notes and data produced.

Supplies for Analyzing DNA Cases - Funds will be used to purchase supplies used to analyze evidence samples for the presence so DNA profiles. Where applicable, profiles will be entered and searched in the DNA database.

Contracts – Funds will be used to continue software licensing and use of our DNA LIMS and genotype analysis software.
