DNA Efficiency Improvement through Multidisciplinary Evidence Pre-Screening

Hennepin County will use this funding to eliminate the time wasted using the standard forensic workflow model and incorporate a new combined method that performs all of the evidence pre-processing for each of the laboratory’s disciplines at one time by a team of technicians with specialized training in each of the necessary pre-processing steps. The project will implement a pre-screening lab will be staffed by two individuals. The technicians will receive specialized training in the pre-processing steps in each of the three sections of our lab, DNA, latent prints and firearms.
