Michigan's State Appellate Defender Office (SADO) will continue reviewing felony cases in which post-conviction testing may be warranted.
The proposed work in 2017-2019 will come from three sources: (1) approximately 371 of the original Detroit Police Department (DPD) cases that remain open, (2) 555 recently discovered untested DPD kits, and (3) at least 3000 untested sexual assault evidence kits that have been discovered in other Michigan counties, with more anticipated.
