Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $133,363)
Currently, the time it takes to process evidence can be quite lengthy especially in cases that involve digital image processing of evidentiary photographs. The workflow can be cumbersome and repetitive depending on how many times an item has to be photographed to obtain the best evidence possible.
The current workflow also requires the use of multiple pieces of equipment and software in order to capture, store, and digitally process developed latent prints. The current process relies heavily on an individuals skill and ability with software, especially the use of Photoshop to digitally process images of developed latent prints.
The Latent Prints Section is looking to improve the quality and timeliness of its services through the purchase of the Foster & Freeman DCS5 System, designed specifically for the searching, capturing, and digital image processing of un-developed and developed latent prints in an all-in-one system. ca/ncf
