Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $187,092)

To further improve the response and service to sexual assault survivors the Texas Department of Public Safety will hire an additional employee for the Sexual Assault Evidence (SAE) Tracking Program as well as pay for overtime for this person and the program specialist who will facilitate the implementation of the SAE Tracking Program. Grant funds would also be used to pay for hardware and software for the SAE Tracking Program as well as travel expenses for professional meetings, trainings, and conferences. The Texas Department of Public Safety will also purchase and utilize Combined DNA Index System (CODlS) hit tracking software to track the status of CODIS hits from the laboratory's notification to law enforcement to prosecution or disposition of the case.
