Denver’s Multidisciplinary Analysis of Evidence project will enhance the laboratory capacity by adding three full-time staff who will receive specialized cross-training to complete evidence processing for both DNA and non-DNA disciplines under a single case submission. The three new staff members will be cross-trained as two new full-time forensic scientists to perform multidisciplinary evidence examination and processing for DNA, Latent Prints, and Firearms and one new full-time forensic scientist who will complete DNA analysis. The project will allow the laboratory to perform multidisciplinary analysis on over 2,000 items of evidence during the three-year project. The project seeks to grow a national model for multidisciplinary analysis of forensic evidence by demonstrating the effectiveness of this approach.
