FY 2019 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction Program

The Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory provides forensic science services for all the law enforcement agencies within the Minnesota counties of Anoka, Sherburne, and Wright. The primary goal of this project is to reduce the time required to complete a DNA request for service. In order to accomplish this goal, the laboratory proposes to purchase and implement additional comprehensive robotic workstation capabilities that will perform extractions, quantification setup, normalizations, and amplification set-up with minimal user input. Automating as much of the DNA testing process as possible will allow analysts to more effectively process expedited, time sensitive requests.
