The 2019 Forensic DNA Backlog Reduction program is intended for increasing the throughput and timeliness of forensic analysis of evidence submitted to the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory Biological Sciences Section. This project's goals are 1) to maintain capacity and efficiency through the purchase of DNA workstations and supplies for DNA analysis; and 2) fund two contract employees who will screen cases submitted under the test-all sexual assault kit legislation as well as cases from other criminal investigations.
