Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $742,933)

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services (CBI-FS) has three goals for the funding requested under the FY19 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) program: 1) Enhance the capacity of our forensic DNA laboratories; 2) reduce the backlog of DNA cases; and 3) continue participation in CODIS at all levels. Specifically, funding will be used to purchase software upgrades for equipment, purchase probabilistic genotyping software, and purchase software upgrades for the sample tracking and control software used at the laboratory. Funds will also be used for overtime to analyze DNA cases and to support continuing education for analysts.
