Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $304,532)
A large number of projects are currently in process within the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner (ACOME) Forensic Biology Section, and, in order to mitigate impacts of the current projects on the turnaround time and backlog at the ACOME, the laboratory proposes funding overtime and purchasing supplies for DNA analysis and outsourcing property crimes. Expected results from this program through the outsourcing of DNA processing for over 180 property crime cases will be a reduction in the casework backlog and the generation of a large number of CODIS suitable profiles.
