Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $253,826)
The Hamilton County Coroner's Office and Laboratory will use this award to achieve four goals. First, with this grant funding, the Hamilton County Coroners Laboratory plans to increase the capacity of the DNA section by purchasing and implementing another DNA extraction robot into the casework flow and to purchase a new CODIS server and workstation. Secondly, we plan to reduce the backlog of forensic biology and DNA cases awaiting analysis by purchasing critical supplies for DNA analysis. Thirdly, the lab plans to use grant funds to re-certifying critical equipment, funding service contracts on critical instruments, purchasing proficiency tests, and funding and external DNA audit as required by the FBI QAS. Lastly, grant funds will allow for the continuing education and professional development of the DNA analysts.
