Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $170,000)
The Tarrant County Medical Examiners (TCME) Office is a regional medical examiners facility located in Fort Worth, Texas that provides services to Tarrant, Parker, Denton, and Johnson Counties. The Federal funding from this award will be used for two goals: 1) Increase capacity, decrease the DNA backlog, and decrease the DNA case turnaround time; and 2) meet requirements for continuing education for analysts. The following objectives are proposed: a) funding the salary and benefits for a Sr. Forensic Biologist; b) purchasing equipment hardware upgrades; c) purchasing updates to software for analyzing genetic profiles; and d) purchasing of required supplies.
