FY 2019 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction Program

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office (STPCO) currently performs forensic DNA casework for the St. Tammany Parish area. The goals of the project funded by this grant are as follows: 1) Increase the capacity of the forensic DNA laboratory to process more DNA samples; and 2) Reduce Forensic DNA sample turnaround time. The STPCO intends to achieve the above listed goals by purchasing equipment and software needed to help improve the analyst workflow; thereby increasing the capacity, reducing the turnaround time and decreasing the backlog.
