Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $200,000)
The St. Tammany Parish Coroners Office (STPCO) currently performs forensic DNA casework for the St. Tammany Parish area. The goals of the project funded by this grant are as follows: 1) Increase the capacity of the forensic DNA laboratory to process more DNA samples; and 2) Reduce Forensic DNA sample turnaround time. The STPCO intends to achieve the above listed goals by purchasing equipment and software needed to help improve the analyst workflow; thereby increasing the capacity, reducing the turnaround time and decreasing the backlog.
