Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $1,497,191)
The Biology (DNA) Section of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Scientific Services Bureau has two specific goals for this proposal; to reduce the casework backlog by 3% and turnaround time for casework by 8% by the end of the award period. In order to meet our specific goals, the proposed budget will provide funding for paid overtime, supplies, travel/training, DNA interpretation software licenses, an external FBI QAS audit, validation of a new male-DNA specific kit, new alternate light source flashlights and the validation of a new screening method to improve throughput of sexual assault clothing and/or bedding.
