FY2019 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program (Formula)

Idaho State Police Forensic Services (ISPFS) provides forensic services for approximately 1.6 million people in the state of Idaho. An increase in submissions in the last couple years is due to a new Idaho law requiring testing of all sexual assault kits, with a few exceptions. Further expansion of the law on July 1, 2019 will include all kits except where the case is unfounded. In order to mitigate the impact of increasing submissions, the ISPFS plans to purchase two capillary electrophoresis instruments to increase productivity in the laboratory and support continuing education of the analysts.
