Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $248,500)

The Boston Police Departments (BPD) Crime Laboratory proposes the following goals: 1) To maintain high quality services and improve the overall efficiency and capacity to reduce the backlog of forensic biology/DNA cases of lab, and 2) provide accreditation-required continuing education. The lab's overall plan to meet its goals outlined in this application includes the using funds from this award to support two DNA analysts, purchase DNA testing supplies, and support the continuing education of DNA analysts in the unit.
