Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $342,776)
The Columbus Police Crime Laboratory plans to increase capacity in the upcoming years by adding instrumentation, equipment, and software to reduce and prevent a DNA case backlog. Federal funding from this award will be used for the following goals/objectives: 1) Purchase additional instrumentation, equipment, and software to increase our capacity by enabling us to process DNA samples faster/more efficiently; and 2) Reduce/prevent a DNA case backlog by purchasing supplies necessary to process DNA samples; and 3) Provide the required annual training for all analysts in a virtual format (2020 Promega International Symposium [ISHI] and 2020 Bode Forensic DNA Conference).
