Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $380,891)

The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, the parent organization of the Laboratory of Forensic Services (Crime Laboratory), is requesting funding for the following goals: 1) Reduce/Improve the DNA casework turnaround time and increase case throughput; 2) reduce the DNA case backlog; and 3) increase capacity in the Crime Laboratory's Biology Unit. The following objectives are proposed: a) support two DNA analysts to process DNA cases; and b) support a consultant who will perform administrative reviews of DNA cases.
