CIty of Oakland FY 2019 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction Program

The City of Oakland is the applicant fiscal agent for the proposed project, and the Oakland Police Department is the implementing agency. The goals for this project are: 1) Acquisition of two real-time PCR (DNA quantitation) instruments for the Forensic Biology Unit; 2) maintain continuing education and training for the thirteen Forensic Biology Unit Scientists; 3) DNA typing reagents and supplies for the analysis DNA cases to reduce backlog; and 4) service contracts for two capillary electrophoresis instruments, two real-time PCR instruments and one multi-channel robot.
