Enhancements to the Medical Examiner''s Office in preparation for accreditation by The National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)

Within the past two years, Middlesex County has entered into shared service agreements to provide medical examiner services to both Monmouth County and Mercer County, utilizing the existing Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s building, forming a regional office. The administration and staff of the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner’s continue to strive to improve the quality of work provided to the citizens of all three counties and we believe that obtaining accreditation by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) will demonstrate these continued efforts. However, the building, which was originally designed to service one county, has seen a 125% increase in work, as well as staff, which has led the office to become deficient in several areas that are required for NAME accreditation. In order to remedy the area of deficiency, we are requesting grant funding for physical storage for the fixed tissue storage room, which will allow the fixed tissue from three counties to be categorically stored in an orderly fashion.
