Shelby County TN FY2020 Operation Relentless Pursuit

The purpose of Operation Relentless Pursuit (ORP) is to fund state and local law enforcement task forces in an effort to reduce violent crime. The objective of ORP is to combat violent crime by building federal cases against violent actors and their organizations. As such, applicants are required to work proactively with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and other relevant federal investigative agencies to investigate and prosecute targets involved in gangs, drug trafficking and other violent crime related issues.

The project will provide (1) overtime funding for MGU (and partner agency officers) officers to participate in ORP task force operations in addition to current commitments of officers to other task force operations such as the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U. S. Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN); (2) a prosecutor for the SCDAG to handle ORP arrests vertically through the state criminal justice system to ensure that ORP arrests are followed by strategic prosecution; (3) vehicles for MGU operations; and (4) technological solutions to enhance investigation and prosecution of violent offenders.
