This document presents a description of the National Center on Restorative Justice (NCORJ) Restorative Justice efforts in 2021. The NCORJ seeks to improve criminal justice policy and practice in the U.S. through supporting education, research, and training to advance restorative approaches. The document reports on the two Restorative Justice Institutes held in 2021: the first was a think tank for restorative justice and policing experts from across the U.S. who use various models of restorative approaches in policing, and the second was a public event, attended virtually by over 300 participants and included keynotes, panels, break-out discussion sections, and skills-based workshops. The document provides an overview detailing the two institutes held in 2021; and a description of the research community and education, including course mapping and evaluation, access to restorative justice education, and restorative justice education in prisons; information about NCORJ training, communications, creative initiatives such as the Restorative Lens podcast and the Reimagining Justice art gallery, and collaborations with other organizations.
